1. I can't swim, can I still participate?
Basically, it helps! Not with actually Kitesurfing but managing to self rescue or get back to your board if you fall off, which will happen! Learning how to swim will improve your confidence in the water and it is a basic requirement when participating in an Extremexposure water based lesson.Top
2. Will other water sports help me learn to kitesurf?
Any board based sport will help when learning to kitesurf. It has been found in the past that wakeboarders make the best transition into Kitesurfing. As has been said elsewhere on this site learning how to fly a power kite effectively and in full control is probably more important than board skills. Top
All water based sports carry an element of danger especially when you are able to travel away from the shore under your own power. For this reason it is necessary to take a fully qualified lesson so you can be made aware of all potential dangers and learn what to do if things go wrong. Learning from an unqualified friend although cheaper may not be enough to keep you safe.Top
4. What are the age restrictions?
There are no age restrictions in Kitesurfing although when being taught any water activity with Extremexposure a parent or guardian needs to be present during all water based activities for people under the age of 18 years old.Top
5. I've been messing around with kites and a landboard for a couple of years, will this help me progress onto the water?
We always recommend that people who want to learn to kitesurf take a power kite lesson first and develop their flying skills on the land, progressing onto a kite buggy or landboard and combining your flying skills with movement where all the dynamics of the wind change. Following this route will allow you maximize on your Kitesurfing lesson as you will already have many of the required kite skills down to a fine art.Top
