1. Where can I practice Power Kite sports?
Power kite sports can be practiced anywhere there is plenty of wide open spaces without any overhead power lines or obstacles such as buildings or electricity cables. However when going to a new location for the first time it is always important if possible to check with the locals and/or landowner about whether there are any restrictions in place. In some parts of the country local kite clubs work hard to keep access to an area open so work with them to achieve this goal Top
When participating in any sporting activity for the first time you should always consider your general level of fitness. If in any doubt at all consult your local GP. Power kite sports do not require a high level of fitness and when you start learning the kites you use will be sized to suit both your physical weight and technical ability to handle it. If you participate on a regular basis most power kite activities will enhance your general level of fitness Top
Like any wind based sport there is always a possibility that things can go wrong introducing an element of danger. For some people this is part of what they aim to get out of the sport. However with qualified instruction you will learn how to participate in the sport without danger to yourself or any third party and their property. You will develop motor skills the more you practice and be able to handle more power in more adverse conditions. At Extremexposure we always recommend however if you have any doubts about the conditions or your ability to handle them either use a smaller kite or leave it for another day.Top
4. What are the age restrictions?
Power kite sports can be enjoyed by most ages. We have taught children as young as 4 years old and as old as 65! Reality is providing you can stand and are in general good health you can participate in these activities. It is merely learning how to choose the right equipment and conditions to suit your abilityTop
5. I don't think I would be strong enough?
We are often asked this question especially by women. Another reality is although a degree of strength is required these sports are not totally dependant on strength. It is a sport of ratio's and your instructor will choose equipment to suit your weight and skill level and match them to the conditions. You will do the same when you decide to practice on your own. Several years ago the women's world champion kitesurfer was a 10 year old girl, who would go out in the same conditions as the best of the men. The more you participate in these sports however there will be improvements to your general strengthTop
