Combined Power Kite Lesson + Kite Landboard - Duration: 5 hours - Cost £130

This combined course is for those that are starting from scratch and would like to learn how to use the power of a kite to travel on a kite land board, assuming there has been no or little previous power kite experience.

The first part of the course will introduce you to the skills required to master the art of power kite flying. The basic principles taught will be used if you decide to advance onto any of the other power kite traction sports of Land Buggies, Kite Land Boarding, Snow Kiting and Kite Surfing. All of these individual sports have one thing in common which is mastering the art of flying powerful kites whilst incorporating movement. Without mastering these basic kite skills first moving onto other sports is the hardest (and slowest) way to progress.

Included in the lesson will be the following -

  • Initial flying zone site assessment and common safety guidelines
  • Setting up your kite and safety checks
  • Kite flying theory
  • Launching and landing assisted/unassisted
  • Development of your flying skills
  • Using a harness
  • Packing away your equipment

Once the above flying skills have been mastered you will be ready to combine your static flying skills with that of standing on a land board and movement.

Having developed your power kite flying skills your lesson will introduce you to putting the kite's energy to use to ride a kite land board. With many freestyle, course racing and social kite events throughout the UK this is a great sport to become involved with. Kite land boards can reach high speeds so formal instruction will allow you to get into this sport safely.

  • Additional site assessment and safety guidelines when introducing movement and vehicles
  • Checking your equipment
  • Kite flying theory when movement is introduced
  • Launching and landing assisted/unassisted
  • Welcome to the land board! Your first attempts at riding
  • Techniques for going upwind, cross wind and downwind
  • Packing away your equipment and basic maintenance
